Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has extended the free storage period at the Riyadh Dry Port from 7 days to 30 days for goods and transit containers, as cargo volumes increase. The move is linked to the launch of five new logistics routes connecting ports across the Kingdom and beyond.

The longer free period gives importers and exporters more time to manage shipments without extra charges. This helps when there are delays in customs clearance, trucking, or final delivery. It can also ease pressure at the port by reducing the need to move cargo quickly.

SAR recently introduced new routes linking the eastern and western ports of Saudi Arabia with regional markets. These routes use a mix of rail, road and sea, helping cargo move through different transport modes more easily.

With more time for storage, companies can better plan onward transport. This can improve the flow of goods and reduce bottlenecks in the supply chain.

The move reflects efforts to handle rising trade volumes and make cargo movement more flexible across the network.
