Saudi Arabia has confirmed that its fleet of more than 500,000 trucks is fully prepared to support freight movement across the kingdom and the wider Gulf, as authorities strengthen logistics corridors to keep trade flowing smoothly. The move ensures goods can move efficiently between ports, airports, industrial cities and logistics zones, helping businesses maintain stable supply chains and reliable delivery across the region, according to the Transport General Authority.

The land transport network, supported by around 18,500 licensed freight companies, plays a central role in connecting Saudi Arabia’s major logistics gateways. By strengthening road links between ports and inland logistics hubs, the system allows cargo to be moved quickly across the country and onward to GCC markets.

A key part of the move is the activation of alternative logistics corridors linking ports on the Arabian Gulf with those on the Red Sea. This flexibility allows shipments arriving at one coast to be redirected across the kingdom when global shipping patterns shift.

Saleh Al Jasser, Transport and Logistics Minister, said the kingdom’s Red Sea ports have the capacity to handle more than 17 million containers a year and can receive cargo redirected from other regional ports. For logistics operators, the strong trucking capacity and connected corridors help ensure faster cargo movement, more routing options and smoother trade flows across the Gulf.
