Sharjah and the Maldives are looking to strengthen trade and logistics links as the Maldives plans to expand its seaport network and upgrade logistics infrastructure. The focus is on improving connectivity and creating new opportunities for businesses in both markets.

Sharjah’s port operations and maritime infrastructure can support the Maldives’ plans to expand its logistics capacity. Better connectivity and cargo handling can help businesses move goods more efficiently between the two markets and access wider regional trade routes.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressed the Chamber’s readiness to provide Maldivian companies and entrepreneurs with comprehensive business support and facilitation, noting that Sharjah boasts advanced maritime and logistics infrastructure and a competitive business environment that make it an ideal gateway for Maldivian businesses seeking to expand into regional and global markets.

The stronger trade link can also support supply chain growth by creating greater demand for freight, warehousing, cargo handling and other logistics services. Improved infrastructure can help businesses manage growing cargo volumes and strengthen links between ports and inland markets.

Besides, Maldives is also upgrading its logistics infrastructure as trade continues to grow. Greater cooperation with Sharjah can help connect Maldivian businesses with UAE-based companies and regional markets while supporting the development of more efficient supply chains.
