Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Railways (SAR) has unveiled five new freight logistics routes, forming an integrated multimodal network linking Arabian Gulf ports with key industrial zones across the Kingdom and beyond. The routes connect eastern ports to central and northern regions, extending onward to Red Sea gateways and neighbouring markets.

The network is anchored by the Riyadh Dry Port and supported by freight yards in Dammam, Jubail, Ras Al-Khair, Al-Kharj, Hail, and Qurayyat. By combining rail and road transport, SAR aims to streamline cargo movement, improve reliability, and enhance end-to-end supply chain efficiency.

Designed to handle diverse cargo, the routes will primarily support petrochemical and mining sectors while facilitating smoother import and export flows. CEO Dr. Bashar Al-Malik said the initiative delivers integrated logistics solutions that ensure operational resilience and seamless coordination across transport modes.

The new corridors strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub, improving connectivity between East and West. They are also expected to reduce road congestion, cut emissions, and enhance safety by shifting significant freight volumes from trucks to rail.
