Scanwell Logistics UAE has introduced in-house customs clearance services for import and export cargo, adding customs handling to its existing freight forwarding, transport, warehousing and delivery operations.

The move is expected to give the company more direct control over customs processes and improve coordination between different stages of cargo movement. Having a dedicated customs team can also help reduce handover points, improve shipment visibility and address documentation or clearance issues more quickly.

“Our expanding presence in Africa, including our branches in Kenya, strengthens our ability to support customers with reliable logistics solutions across key African markets and beyond,” said Razmal Assen, Executive Director, Scanwell Logistics LLC.

The development comes as customs clearance remains a key part of cross-border logistics, where differences in regulations, documentation and border procedures can affect cargo transit times. Closer coordination between freight forwarding and customs teams can help reduce delays and support smoother movement of goods.

Scanwell, which has 45 years of logistics experience and more than 70 branches globally, is also expanding its presence in African markets, including through branches in Kenya. This network supports cargo movements between the UAE, Africa and other international markets.

By bringing customs clearance into its UAE operations, Scanwell aims to link more parts of the supply chain under one process, giving customers a single point of coordination from origin to destination. This could help simplify cargo handling as trade flows between the Middle East and African markets continue to grow.
