SCZONE, Oman set to deepen logistics and trade links

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and Oman are set to expand cooperation in logistics, maritime services and trade, with Omani companies looking at opportunities to use Egypt as a base to reach regional and international markets.
The focus includes logistics, industrial activity, energy, maritime services and other areas linked to trade. Stronger cooperation could give companies in both countries more options to move goods and build supply chain links across the region.
Gamal El-Din, Chairperson of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), highlighted the investment opportunities available within SCZONE, underscoring its integrated infrastructure, investor incentives, streamlined services, and strategic location linking the markets of Africa, Asia and Europe.
SCZONE has four industrial zones and six seaports on the Red Sea and Mediterranean. Its location around the Suez Canal connects major trade routes between Asia, Europe and Africa.
For Omani businesses, greater access to SCZONE could support exports to African and European markets through Egypt. It could also create opportunities for logistics and maritime companies to support cargo moving through the Suez Canal.
The cooperation comes as Egypt and Oman look to expand economic ties beyond direct bilateral trade. Wider business links could help companies from both countries enter new markets and develop cross-border supply chains.
Omani representatives also visited the Sokhna Industrial Zone and Sokhna Port to review industrial projects, port infrastructure and logistics services. SCZONE is also working to develop strategic industries and expand its role as a base for regional trade and manufacturing.
