Sokhna to get 167,000sqm digital truck yard

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) has signed a contract worth more than EGP1bn with Nafeza Egypt Logistics Services to develop and operate a digital truck yard at Sokhna Port. The 167,000-square-metre facility will be able to handle up to 1,100 trucks a day when fully operational.

The project will use Nafeza’s digital platforms to plan truck movements in real time. This is expected to help manage truck flows around the port, reduce congestion and improve the movement of cargo between the port and wider logistics network.

The digital system will also give operators better control over truck arrivals and movements, helping to make port operations more organised as cargo volumes increase. It forms part of wider efforts to improve links between the port, industrial areas and supply chains.

Mostafa Sheikhoon, Chairperson of SCZone said the technology-driven truck management system serves as an additional step to enhance the port’s logistical capabilities, presenting SCZone as an integrated corridor for regional and international logistics activities. Sheikhoon highlighted the strategic location of SCZone’s ports as a connection hub between continents, supported by international free trade agreements that provide market access to more than 3.5 billion consumers worldwide.

The project is part of ongoing infrastructure and operational development across its ports. The authority is also working to strengthen links between its ports and industrial zones to support trade and exports.
