SolitAir expands Africa network with Ghana cargo route

SolitAir has started freight services between the UAE and Ghana, adding Accra to its network and strengthening cargo links between the Middle East and West Africa. The new service connects Accra International Airport with Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) in Dubai, covering about 6,250km.

The route could give exporters and importers another option for moving goods between the two regions. Ghana’s key exports include gold, food products and perishables, creating demand for reliable air cargo capacity. It also opens another route for inbound goods from the UAE and wider international markets into Ghana.

The addition of Ghana takes SolitAir’s African network to 21 destinations across 17 countries. The carrier recently added Nigeria, as it continues to expand its presence in West Africa.

SolitAir currently operates seven Boeing 737-800BCF freighters, each able to carry up to 20 tonnes of cargo. Its Dubai World Central hub provides the base for these operations.

This route will seamlessly connect Middle Eastern logistics networks with West Africa's thriving export market for agricultural and valuable goods, while fulfilling the region's increasing demand for inbound global imports.” 

The new service also adds capacity to a trade corridor linking the UAE with Ghana, a market of about 37.5 million people. For the wider logistics sector, the route could support more direct air cargo movements and provide additional options for time-sensitive and high-value goods moving between Africa and the Gulf.
