SolitAir has started cargo flights from Dubai to Sofia in Bulgaria, marking its first route into Europe and its first connection to the European Union market. The service links Dubai World Central with Sofia Airport and expands the airline’s network beyond the Middle East, Africa and Asia into Europe for the first time.
The route was made possible after SolitAir received ACC3 security approval, which allows it to carry cargo into the EU. The airline said this gives it access to European markets and helps connect its existing network with the region.
Hamdi Osman, Founder & CEO of SolitAir, said: “Sofia is more than a new dot on the map - it is the first European link in a network we have built city by city across some of the world's most commercially vital, yet underserved, trade routes. Our ACC3 certification was never just a regulatory milestone; it was the key that would let us connect the markets we already serve to Europe.”
The Sofia route is expected to support faster movement of goods between Europe and markets in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, especially for sectors like e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, automotive parts and perishables that need quick transport.
Sofia’s location can help link air cargo with road and rail networks across Europe, improving distribution options for freight forwarders and logistics firms using the service. The airline already operates 56 routes across more than 34 countries.
