Turkish Airlines plans to invest US$ 2.3 billion to build the world’s largest cargo terminal, a move expected to create around 26,000 jobs and boost Türkiye’s role as a global air freight hub. The project is one of the airlines’ biggest investments and comes as cargo demand continues to rise worldwide. Cargo has become a key growth driver for Turkish Airlines. The carrier currently transports about 2 million tonnes of cargo each year and is expanding capacity to meet demand from e-commerce, manufacturing and time-sensitive shipments. The airline has not revealed the location of the terminal, but Istanbul is widely seen as the most likely choice. The city is home to Türkiye’s two largest airports and sits at the crossroads of major trade routes linking Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
