Airports across Türkiye handled around 2.5 million tonnes of cargo from January to June 2026, with international operations making up the majority of freight traffic, according to data from the State Airports Authority General Directorate (DHMI).

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said cargo activity remained strong across the country, with international routes continuing to account for a large share of freight movements. In June alone, Turkish airports handled 484,943 tonnes of cargo.

The country recorded nearly 1.11 million aircraft movements during the first six months, including overflights. Istanbul Airport remained a key cargo gateway, supporting freight connections between Europe, Asia and the Middle East through its international network.

The increase in freight volumes highlights Türkiye’s growing role in regional and global supply chains, as demand for air cargo capacity continues across key trade routes.
