UAE, Argentina launch CEPA talks to boost cargo flows

The UAE and Argentina have launched negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) aimed at expanding market access for goods and services and increasing trade between the two countries. The agreement could support smoother movement of products across sectors including minerals, energy, agribusiness, pharmaceuticals and aerospace.
The proposed CEPA is expected to create wider opportunities for businesses to access each market and support stronger supply chains between the UAE and Argentina. Greater trade links could also help increase cargo flows and demand for logistics services connecting the two markets.
Mining and minerals, energy and agribusiness are among the key sectors identified for greater cooperation, creating potential for increased movement of raw materials, food products and other goods.
The UAE and Argentina already have a Bilateral Investment Treaty and a Double Taxation Agreement, which provide a framework for investment and commercial activity between the two markets.
The countries also highlighted the YPF-XRG partnership as part of the wider Argentina LNG project. The project is expected to involve around US$51 billion in investment, with initial LNG production capacity of 12 million tonnes per year.
