UAE Foreign Trade Minister for supply chains’ digital trade plans

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, UAE, highlighting the impact of digital trade initiatives, said, “The modernisation of supply chains is the focus of our trade technology initiative.” He was delivering the keynote address at a global supply chain summit. Launched in partnership with the World Economic Forum and the Abu Dhabi Department for Economic Development, the initiative seeks to accelerate the use of technology in global supply chains. “We are already witnessing technologies such as blockchain for facilitating payments along the value chain, autonomous vehicles and smart starting solutions, including logistics and AI, enhancing risk management and optimisation. We can go further still. The adoption of e-billing of lending can result in a saving of billions of dollars every year. We can use smart contracts to expedite verification of your customers’ and tokenise commodities for full digitalisation and end-to-end trade.”
