UAE, India lay foundation stone for ‘Bharat Mart’ in Jebel Ali




His Royal Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on February 14 laid the foundation stone for Bharat Mart, which will give Indian manufactures and exporters access to global markets. The foundation stone ceremony took place during the World Governments Summit 2024. Later, DP World unveiled plans for the world class trading market platform. Expected to open in 2026, Bharat Mart is poised to become a mega distribution hub for Indian businesses to trade domestically in the UAE and re-export to regional and global markets. Phase 1 of the project encompasses 1.3 million square feet, and the total area of Bharat Mart is envisaged to be over an area spanning 2.7 million square feet. Located 11 km from Jebel Ali Port and 15 km from Al Maktoum International Airport, providing seamless multimodal logistics solutions for Indian exporters. Bharat Mart would have over 700,000 square feet of Grade A warehousing space, providing tenants with combined free zone and onshore benefits. It is projected to house 1,500 showrooms catering to retail and wholesale customers. Through Jebel Ali Port traders and exporters will have direct connectivity to over 150 maritime destinations and air links to over 300 cities.
