Aramex and GMR Airports Limited are planning upgrades to express cargo facilities at airports in India, a move that could improve shipment flows between India and Gulf markets. The work is targeted for completion by March 2027.

The companies will explore dedicated cargo handling areas, faster screening systems and customs clearance facilities within terminals. Plans also include warehouses near airports with direct access to airside areas to speed up the movement of goods to aircraft.

For GCC businesses trading with India, faster cargo processing could help reduce shipment delays and improve the movement of goods across key trade routes. The upgrades could also support Indian exporters, including micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, seeking access to Gulf markets.

Amadou Diallo, Group CEO of Aramex, said: “Our focus on India goes beyond expanding our footprint; it is about building the capabilities and infrastructure needed to support the country’s next phase of growth in global trade.”

The companies signed a memorandum of understanding at GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo to explore the proposed upgrades. GMR Airports will maintain the facilities under a final agreement and coordinate with regulatory and aviation authorities.
