As the year draws to a close, global trade shifts are shaping new opportunities for Scanwell Logistics. The second half of the year saw growth driven by changes in the apparel industry, as production moves from China to Africa, said Razmal Assen, Executive Director, Scanwell Logistics. The company is expanding operations in East Africa and exploring markets in Egypt and Jordan to capitalise on evolving production patterns. Business from India and Bangladesh is also picking up, with exports gaining momentum despite new U.S. tariffs. On the import side, Scanwell has secured new clients, supporting stronger cargo flows into Dubai and the UAE. While Dubai remains a key transshipment hub with robust infrastructure, Assen noted competition is rising from countries such as Bahrain and the Maldives. Saudi Arabia is emerging as a logistics destination, though Dubai retains advantages in warehousing, ease of doing business, and distribution to neighboring GCC countries. Scanwell is focusing on high-growth commodities including apparel, food products, electric vehicles, and pharmaceuticals, while leveraging partnerships with China under initiatives like the Belt and Road to strengthen regional trade.
