EDECS Group has secured a contract from DP World to redevelop seven operational yards at Terminal 1 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, expanding its role in logistics infrastructure projects across the Middle East and Africa. The 90,000 sq m project includes cargo and material handling yards, gates and supporting utilities, with work already under way.

The project will add capacity for cargo storage and handling while supporting more efficient movement of goods through East and Central Africa. This is particularly relevant to regional supply chains, as Dar es Salaam serves as a key trade gateway for Tanzania and several landlocked countries.

CEO DP World Dar es Salaam, Martin Jacob, said, "The modernisation of DP World terminal at Dar es Salaam Port remains central to efforts to enhance trade connectivity and logistics efficiency across East and Central Africa."

The terminal handled a record 46,582 TEUs in July 2026, up from 13,779 TEUs in May 2024. Overall annual throughput has crossed 30 million tonnes, pointing to growing demand for logistics capacity and infrastructure in the region.

EDECS is also delivering fire protection and high-mast lighting systems as part of the wider works. The contract builds on the group’s existing relationship with DP World and its project activity across Middle East and African markets.
