Egypt has mobilised three key ministries to keep trade moving as tensions rise in the Gulf following recent US strikes. The Ministries of Investment and Foreign Trade, Supply and Internal Trade, and Agriculture and Land Reclamation are coordinating to protect import and export flows, assess alternative shipping routes and fast-track procedures to prevent disruptions. Officials say contingency plans are already in place to redirect cargo and maintain stable supply lines.

The ministries are closely monitoring regional developments and working with relevant authorities to respond quickly if trade lanes are affected. Logistics options under review include switching between sea and land freight depending on the destination market and type of goods.

Authorities are also simplifying regulatory and commercial processes to help traders reroute shipments without delays. The aim is to widen trade channels and avoid bottlenecks at ports or border crossings.

In parallel, coordination is underway with supply chains and wholesale markets to absorb redirected cargo into the domestic market if required, while keeping prices and availability steady. Officials stressed that essential commodity reserves remain sufficient, providing a buffer as the situation evolves.
