Etihad Cargo is celebrating two years of operations at Ezhou Huahu Airport, China. Since transitioning to joint operations from Wuhan to Ezhou, Etihad Airways is the first airline to launch scheduled freighter services in the region, said Stanislas Brun, Chief Cargo Officer, Etihad Airways. Expanding, the carrier operated 184 Boeing 777 freighters along with 200 flights of SF Airlines from Ezhou. “Etihad Airways has transported 28,000 tonnes of cargo since launching the Abu Dhabi-Ezhou route. This has established a two-way trade corridor spanning Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, injecting momentum into regional economic and trade exchanges. Located in Hubei province, the Ezhou airport, which began operations in 2022, offers unrivalled domestic reach and global connectivity with 135 aircraft and dual 3,600-metre runways,” said Luo Guowei, Chairman, Hubei International Logistics Airport Co. Ltd. Since 2023, 43,000 tonnes of export cargo and 690 tonnes of import cargo were moved from Abu Dhabi via Ezhou Huahu Airport, reinforcing the hub’s key role in global logistics. “Strengthening its presence in Ezhou, Etihad Cargo will continue to explore opportunities for service enhancements and digital integration to optimise end-to-end supply chain performance,” Brun added.
