Worldwide air cargo tonnages rose by 4% month-on-month (MoM) in May, marking a strong rebound after a 7% decline in April, according to the latest data from WorldACD Market Data. The April drop was attributed to a combination of significant US tariff increases and the impact of Easter and other holidays. The recovery in May suggests a stabilisation in global trade flows following those temporary disruptions. Year-on-year (YoY), global air cargo volumes were up 4%, driven by strong gains from Asia Pacific (+7%), Europe (+4%), and CSA (+3%). Volumes from the Middle East & South Asia (MESA) remained flat compared to their elevated levels in May 2024.
