Gulftainer is set to develop the Al Dhaid Multi-Modal Trade Corridor in Sharjah, a 150-hectare logistics project with capacity of 1.5 million TEUs a year. The facility is designed near Khorfakkan Port and will connect with the Etihad Rail network. It aims to ease pressure on ports, speed up cargo movement, and improve supply chain flows across the UAE and GCC.

The hub will act as an inland extension of Khorfakkan Port and include an inland container yard, empty depot, and a high-velocity container freight station. Rail links will allow bulk cargo to move between ports and inland markets, reducing road congestion and cutting delivery times for regional trade.

The project is a partnership with Sharjah Ports and supports wider logistics expansion in the emirate, including inland facilities such as Sajaa Dry Port. It is part of efforts to improve efficiency and strengthen the UAE’s position as a regional trade hub.

Farid Belbouab, Group CEO of Gulftainer, said: “The Al Dhaid Multi-Modal Trade Corridor is designed to improve cargo flow by linking port and rail systems. It will help businesses move goods faster and reduce overall logistics costs across the region.”
