Hafeet Rail completes 40% of Oman-UAE link

Hafeet Rail has completed 40 per cent of the construction work on the railway linking Oman and the UAE, marking a key milestone for one of the region’s largest cross-border transport projects. The 238-kilometre rail line is being developed to support both freight and passenger movement between the two countries and strengthen regional connectivity.

Abdulrahman bin Salem Al Hatmi, CEO of ASYAD Group, said the pace of construction reflects the commitment to complete the project and begin serving passengers and freight customers as planned.

The railway is expected to improve cargo transport between industrial centres, ports and inland markets, offering an alternative to road freight. The project could help reduce transit times, improve supply chain efficiency and support growing trade flows between Oman and the UAE.

Construction is progressing across several locations, including Al Ain, Buraimi, Wadi Al Jazi and Sohar. The route passes through urban areas, industrial zones, mountains and valleys, requiring major engineering works such as bridges, tunnels and flood protection systems.
