Honeywell and Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) have signed a multi-year deal that focuses on speeding up and simplifying the logistics behind repairing AW139 helicopter avionics. The agreement gives UAE operators access to a faster, localised repair route, reducing the need to send components overseas and cutting downtime for both military and civil fleets.
“Our agreement is a testimony to the strength of Honeywell’s collaboration with Abu Dhabi Aviation and our commitment to leading the way towards the future of aviation,” says Mike Vallillo, vice president, Defense and Space International, Honeywell Aerospace Technologies. “Together, we are easing the logistical burden for our UAE-based customers, and in doing so, we are making critical repairs simpler and faster.”
Until now, operators had to ship parts directly to Honeywell facilities abroad, adding delays and costs. Under the new model, ADA will manage the full logistics chain — selecting the most suitable Honeywell repair centre, organising shipment, and tracking each unit until the work is completed. This centralised approach is expected to make the repair process quicker, more transparent and far easier for operators across the Middle East and Africa.
The AW139 is one of the region’s most widely used helicopters, supporting defence missions, civil aviation needs and oil-and-gas operations. By improving the movement and turnaround of critical components, the partnership is set to boost fleet readiness for these sectors. The agreement runs until 2029 and strengthens a decade-long collaboration between Honeywell and ADA, supporting the expansion of MRO capabilities and logistics efficiency in the wider region.
