The National Agricultural Centre (NAC) has signed a deal with NRTC Group, a subsidiary of Ghitha Holding, to improve the movement of food across the UAE, with a clear focus on logistics and supply chains. The agreement targets gaps in how locally grown produce is collected, transported, and distributed to markets.

The plan centres on building more organised procurement and distribution systems. This includes improving storage, handling, and transport to reduce waste and delays. It also looks at creating clearer routes for local produce to reach retailers, instead of relying heavily on fragmented supply chains.

NRTC’s logistics network and digital systems are expected to play a key role. These tools will be used to track produce, manage supply flows, and ensure goods move more efficiently from farms to buyers. The aim is to create a more predictable and stable supply of local food in the market.

The agreement also highlights the need to better connect farmers with distribution channels. By tightening this link, the UAE is trying to address inefficiencies that affect both supply consistency and pricing. The move reflects a wider shift towards strengthening domestic supply chains, as the country looks to reduce reliance on imports and improve food system resilience.
