Oman’s logistics and cargo sectors recorded significant gains as Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, presented a comprehensive performance review before the Shura Council. The report highlighted strong progress under the Tenth Five-Year Development Plan (2021–2025), with major advancements in transport infrastructure, port operations, and digital integration aligned with Oman Vision 2040.
Cargo performance stood out, with Omani ports handling over 143 million tonnes and surpassing 5.1 million TEUs in 2025, reflecting enhanced operational efficiency and capacity expansion. Logistics sector investments reached RO 3.3 billion, alongside 18 new agreements signed in 2025, reinforcing the Sultanate’s position as a regional logistics hub. Land transport revenues also grew by 18 percent, driven by increased demand and improved connectivity.
Digital transformation played a critical role in enabling cargo and supply chain efficiency. More than 2,200 government services were digitised, while digital transactions surged by nearly 78 percent year-on-year, streamlining trade and logistics processes.
Looking ahead, Oman will prioritise multimodal integration, expansion of the Port Community System, and development of green ports under the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). Strategic initiatives will focus on enhancing supply chain resilience, accelerating cargo flows, and attracting high-value logistics investments through public-private partnerships.
