Oman is expanding green logistics, with more than 5,900 EVs registered in the first half of 2026, as it upgrades ports and tests low-emission delivery systems to cut transport emissions and improve supply chain efficiency. The focus is on making freight movement, urban deliveries and port operations cleaner and more efficient.

Electric vehicle adoption in logistics is rising, supported by a wider charging network that now has over 160 points. These are being expanded along highways, cities and key trade routes to support cargo movement and fleet operations.

Abdullah bin Ali Al Busaidi, Director General of Oman Logistics Centre, said, “The ministry is working on multiple fronts, including expanding EV adoption, developing charging infrastructure, promoting low-emission transport and improving logistics efficiency through smart technologies.”

In urban logistics, electric bike delivery trials are being used to reduce fuel use in congested areas. The pilot has shown faster deliveries and lower emissions, and authorities are considering scaling it to express courier and last-mile distribution services.

At ports, Oman is working on electrifying equipment and exploring shore power systems so ships can use onshore electricity while berthed. These steps aim to reduce emissions from cargo handling and improve port efficiency.

A major ship recycling facility planned in North Batinah will also support circular logistics by processing end-of-life vessels and producing low-carbon steel, linking maritime operations with industrial supply chains.
