Oman and Uzbekistan are gearing to strengthen trade and logistics ties, aiming to make Oman a key transit hub connecting Central Asia to global markets. The two countries are working to enhance transport corridors, improve cargo movement, and explore joint investment opportunities in logistics and transport infrastructure. Plans also focus on streamlining customs procedures, reducing transit times, and boosting air connectivity, including potential direct flights between Muscat and Tashkent for both passengers and cargo.
Eng Khamis bin Mohammed al Shammakhi, Under-Secretary of Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT for Transport, said, “Strengthening logistics corridors between Oman and Uzbekistan opens new opportunities for regional trade and economic growth.”
The collaboration targets better integration of road, rail, and air networks to facilitate smoother goods movement across borders. With improved logistics and transit routes, both countries aim to unlock faster, more reliable cargo flows, benefiting exporters, importers, and regional trade partners. This move signals a strategic step toward making Oman a central hub for Central Asian trade reaching global markets and is expected to accelerate trade links and create new opportunities for investment in transport and logistics projects.
