Queen Alia International Airport handled 4,114 tonnes of air cargo in April 2026, according to Airport International Group. This is a 44.3% increase compared to March 2026. The data shows stronger cargo movement through the airport during the month, indicating higher freight activity across key routes in the Middle East, where air cargo continues to play a key role in regional trade flows and connectivity between Asia, Europe and Africa.
Nicolas Deviller, Chief Executive Officer of Airport International Group, said, “Queen Alia International Airport continues to demonstrate operational resilience and adaptability amid evolving regional and global aviation conditions.”
The growth reflects improved flow of goods through Jordan’s main air gateway, with more shipments moving in and out of the country during April. Cargo operations showed stronger momentum compared to the previous month, pointing to better utilisation of air freight capacity and more active trade handling at the airport. The increase also suggests smoother movement of time-sensitive goods, including commercial shipments and regional trade cargo.
The rise in cargo activity is important for logistics and supply chains, as air freight plays a key role in supporting fast delivery of goods between markets. Higher monthly volumes can help improve scheduling efficiency for cargo operators and airlines, and support more stable movement of imports and exports through the airport. It also reflects ongoing activity in regional trade lanes that depend on air connectivity for speed and reliability, especially for high-value and time-critical shipments.
