Qatar Airways Cargo is implementing initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, including addressing shipment no-shows, introducing index-linked long-term contracts, and integrating more data into its systems. Mark Drusch, Qatar Airways’ Chief Cargo Officer, outlined these strategies in the media recently.
The airline aims to combat shipment shortages by requiring forwarders to confirm space needs in advance, promoting transparency and efficiency. Index-linked contracts mitigate pricing volatility, ensuring market-rate alignment for both parties.
Drusch emphasized the benefits of digitalization in capitalizing on e-commerce growth and improving operational decision-making. Qatar Cargo recently received its last Boeing 777-200 freighter, with plans to introduce the advanced 777-8F model in 2027, promising enhanced cargo visibility and capacity utilization.
