Sharjah and Portugal have expanded cooperation on trade flows and logistics connectivity, with emphasis on improving supply chain movement between the two markets. The focus is on strengthening shipping links, port handling efficiency, and smoother cargo movement for goods moving between the UAE, Europe and wider global routes.
The development is linked to rising cargo exchange between the two sides, supported by Sharjah’s role as a regional logistics hub and Portugal’s position as a gateway to European markets. The aim is to reduce delays in freight movement, improve port-to-port connectivity, and support businesses involved in import and export operations across both regions.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI said that stronger logistics connectivity is helping businesses on both sides move goods faster and expand their trade reach. The spokesperson added that improved coordination in supply chain operations is making it easier for companies to access new markets and manage shipping routes more efficiently.
The cooperation is expected to support exporters, freight operators and logistics companies by improving trade lanes and encouraging more direct commercial shipping activity between the UAE and Portugal.
