Sharjah has launched a large logistics complex in Al Dhaid that will handle up to 1.5 million containers a year once fully developed. The project is linked with seaports, industrial zones and future rail connections, and is aimed at improving how cargo moves across the UAE and the wider region.

The first phase of the Al Dhaid Logistics Complex covers more than 16 million square feet. It is designed as a multimodal hub connecting road, sea and future rail transport. The site includes space for warehouses, cargo handling, inspection facilities and truck movement areas.

“The Al Dhaid Logistics Complex will strengthen connectivity between ports, border crossings and key trade routes, improving the efficiency of cargo movement across the region,” said a spokesperson from SPCFZA.

The project is part of efforts to reduce delays in shipping and improve the flow of goods between ports and inland areas. By linking different transport systems, it is expected to make supply chains more efficient and reduce congestion at busy ports.

The complex will also connect with the UAE’s national rail network through Etihad Rail in the future. This is expected to shift more cargo from road to rail, which can lower transport costs and improve movement speed for bulk goods.
